On Friday 7 April 2017, 72 history pupils representing each local authority in Scotland departed for France to participate in Scotland’s international Battle of Arras commemorations.
In addition to attending a commemorative service at Faubourg d’Amiens Cemetery and a Beating Retreat in the Place des Héros on Sunday 9 April 2017, the pupils visited World War One battlefields, cemeteries and memorials where they reflected on the magnitude of the loss suffered during the conflict.
